Link for just cause... I know I'm horrible on this subject. Luckily by posting here, you don't have to listen to me describe all the stuff I dig up regularly on food in our discussions :D About the negative effects of vitamin supplements: http://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2013/07/the-vitamin-myth-why-we-think-we-need-supplements/277947/

I've always loved (perversely) the story of Linus Pauling and his quackery. He's usually the first person who springs to mind whenever I see Ray Kurzweil displaying his signature mixture of an intense fear of death and an invincible optimism that immortality is just around the corner... and he'll make it if he just takes a ton of pills every day!

Using a smoke gun to replace salt - which means "smoke flavoring," yes? and Pickled red onions for salty taste... because you make pickles using brine (salt, water & spice) yes? Finally, I understand they want to think they are researching lowering bad stuff by using more good stuff, but most of the salt they are trying to take out is in the preservatives, not the actual food recipes used, yes? So when they take these new recipes back to the plant and go to put them on the production line, exactly how much percentage wise are they going to be able to reduce? Love that they are thinking and playing, though!

"...Greg Creed, chief executive of Taco Bell, referring to the company’s pledge to bring one-third of the meal options in its restaurants into compliance with the federal dietary guidelines by 2020."

Okay, did anybody else guffaw at that? One-third!
