Why are you a Humanist?

I call myself an atheist in the Dawkins sense, although labels can pigeonhole. I do not believe in the supernatural. I am 100% convinced that every phenomenon has a scientific and rational explanation (regardless of whether we have it, or will ever have it.) I think that it is important for "unbelievers" to unify and support/elect like-minded representatives in government. I believe that the answers to human problems will be found through rational humanity, not archaic (or otherwise) religious dogma.

I am 40 years old and I am a militant atheist. I teach math at Marysville-Getchell HS. Politically I am a democratic socialist. I do not Facebook.
