You wanted more author marketing talks in this group and do I have a great one for you this evening. Local author Kimberley Patterson will about her social media and blog tour strategy and author platform development. She has two successfully self-published young adult novels and is writing a third, and is very active in social media with websites and book trailer and more. there's lots to model, here, especially as she also has a full time job, husband and kids!

Do a little googling. You'll find her blog tours, and you might also notice that a fair number of country musicians have the book in their hands - she'll tell us how that happened! She also has a great very short book trailer for her book Red Rock, which she hopes gets made into a movie.

Kimberley credits a book group for getting great editing, and a network of music and photography friends that extend her reach. For example, next week she is covering the Dalai Lama's visit to San Diego for a middle-California newspaper.

As if all this doesn't keep her busy enough, Kimberley maintains a beauty blog and has also just started blogging as a music reviewer.

Whew! We will get some ideas for our own social media marketing and platform building strategies, for sure. See you there!

Kimberley Patterson is a yoga instructor, licensed Esthetician, skincare guru and music junkie. Her books are Red Rock, a western romance published in 2010, The Three Month Plan, a young adult romance released in 2013, and she is currently "almost finished" with her third book. Kimberley's first loves were horses and writing and as a child she spent hours writing poems and short stories… about horses. Today those passions stand, with the additions of a family of her own, yoga, skincare and makeup, sushi, raising money for pediatric cancer, and her two rescue dogs. She admits to boring easily, which may help to explain the constant social media activity and experimentation with blog tours, book trailers, Twitter, Facebook, and blogging. Another passion is music, which she also writes about, and Crystal Gayle recently tweeted kudos to her Red Rock book. Kimberley has a couple of group blogs going, and also pens journalist pieces. Her latest gig was interviewing the Dalai Lama during his appearance in Los Angeles. Oh, and she can name all 50 states in alphabetical order in under 30 seconds.

I gained a great deal of useful info, thanks to Kimberley and Carla for their efforts. There is so much going on and changing by the month, I think it is almost impossible to have a true grip on the possibilities unless it is your business to, such as with Carla. This old sponge will continue to soak up these new tricks.

Thank you for understanding. Today I just learned of two new tools for self-publishers and small presses to use. Getting on their beta list to review. Will report back, as always. See you next time!

Kimberley had a lot of good information. It might have helped if she would have outlined what she wanted to say, especially for the benefit of us old people who are have been slow to adopt the social media. It has been my experience that presenters discussing new digital methods consistently underestimate the degree of ignorance among many of us.

Hi David, point taken! Have you read my book yet? It does go into detail and starts at the beginning, for newbies. There's a free chapter and lots of other info, downloads (Anne's social media presentation) that will help, in the MORE > FILES area of the meetup group.

Great share of a successful author's journey. Lots of ideas and inspiration for publicity, both in-person and social media.
