Our First Meetup of 2010 and we are ringing in the New Year with a great topic.
Semantic Technology in Financial Services

Have you ever wondered how semantics can help solve some of the current ills afflicting Finance? Find out from an industry insider what semantics is doing and its future inside one of the largest banks in the world.

David Newman serves as a Senior Architect in the Enterprise Architecture group at Wells Fargo Bank. He has been following semantic technology for the last 3 years; and has developed several business ontologies. He has been instrumental in thought leadership at Wells Fargo on the application of Semantic Technology and is a representative of the Financial Services Technology Consortium (FSTC)on the W3C SPARQL Working Group. You can see some of the things he'll discuss here.

Get in early, because space is limited and this is going to be a full house!

I thought that it was a very good meetup, given the
diverse crowd which was in attendance. David Neuman
gave a very complete explanation as to why
his organization was moving to semantic
technology, I may ask to borrow some of
his slides if I have to make a similar presentation.

It's interesting that Wells Fargo is evaluating and may be using "Semantic Technologies" in a broad range of applications.

It was about 20 mins intro, 70 mins rdf 101 & owl 101 then 15 mins actual stuff on Semantics in Financial Services. Was not expecting that ratio of content and didn't take much out of it.
