RE: [semweb-26] PAWS June Meetup

Hi Wil

Yeah, something along the lines of 'everyone comes with 3 questions' would
be good. These can take the form of 'what is xxx', 'what do you think of
xxx', etc, so it would be an opportunity for everyone to hopefully learn and
share, but in a pretty informal environment.

Personally I think the merging of geospatial tags into mainstream data is
currently of huge interest (most of the requests my company receives at the
moment include the ability to geocode physical address data) but I'm
particularly interested in the automated derivation of tagged content from
unstructured textual data. i.e. This is an address, this is a telephone
number, this is a car, the car is blue, etc - semantic understanding.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to feedback from other potential attendees about
desires. Like I said, unless we can meet prior to June 26 I won't be able to
make it I'm afraid.

Have a great weekend,

Paul

Well, I know I've got a few ideas that I'd love to get some feedback on.
That sounds like a pretty good agenda for a meeting- a sort of feedback
forum where one person quickly presents an idea that semantic web enables
and we discuss for a few minutes. Repeat as necessary. Any comments on
this? As far as specific topics go, I'd love to talk about semantic web
technologies with respect to Ruby/RoR. 2 reasons for this: from the first
meetup I gathered there was a fair amount of overlap between these
communities, and I think a lot of us would like to see a lot more in the
way of frameworks and tools for Ruby/RoR. I would also love to learn more
about semantic web technologies applied to geospatial data.
