Hey all,

In case you will be in town, I wanted to get you a heads-up on a special SemWeb Meetup session next Thursday (the 18th) in LA. See details and RSVP here: http://www.meetup.com...

We are pleased to announce that Russell Foltz-Smith of Wolfram|Alpha will join the LA Semantic Web Meetup on February 18 to share insights on the technology behind the answer engine.

Wolfram|Alpha (http://en.wikipedia.o...) is a unique system that combines many cutting edge technologies to produce a Computational Knowledge engine. It uses a complex interaction between data, linguistics, computation and visualizations that results in the output of knowledge for use directly by end users or semantically by other applications.

In addition to outputting knowledge, Wolfram|Alpha requires the ingestion and transformation of existing knowledge into a computable format. This presents a unique set of semantic challenges.

Russell will review some of these challenges, as well as Wolfram Research's approaches to solving them and where they see things heading with Wolfram|Alpha and related technologies.

See details and RSVP here: http://www.meetup.com...

Best,
-Krista
