Social Media Marketing is the Future, Not a Trend - Overview & Case Studies

If you don't yet know Benn and Lani Rosales, you probably aren't doing much in social media in Austin. And if you do know them, you know what a great event this next meetup will be! Social media evangelists Benn and Lani are preparing a special presentation just for the Austin SEO meetup that's alllllllll about social media and how to use it to promote yourself or your business. This is going to be a great event - we are really looking forward to it!

Social Media Marketing is the Future, Not a Trend-Overview & Case Studies with Benn and Lani Rosales from New Media Lab
========================================================================

I usually try to lay out what will specifically be covered ahead of time so people can decide to come or not, but really, this meetup is for everyone. There are few people who understand the medium of social media like Benn and Lani, and there's certainly not a more passionate and lively couple in this industry. I urge everyone to make plans to attend. If you are still on the fence, can you relate to any of these question?

Are you currently using social media to promote your business or expand your network? (If you aren't, you should be!)

Do you feel like you're getting a return on your efforts or that you are falling short?

Do you wonder what else you could be doing to be more effective in your efforts? Do you wonder what others are doing that you might be missing? Do you wonder about what success others have had? (I do!)

Let's face it, social media is here to stay. We hear Twitter URLs in local radio ads now - if that's not mainstream, I don't know what is. If you aren't in the game now, you are totally missing the boat. Never fear - Benn and Lani will explain it all. :)

Statistics and numbers prove social media is a fundamental shift in communication rather than a trend. We'll share some case studies of companies that have failed and some that have succeeded using social media and we'll cover multiple networks to insure that everyone is equipped with the confidence to forge ahead with social media marketing, be it by taking baby steps or giant leaps!

    I could tell the speakers were knowledgable but the presentation was oriented to beginners who know next to nothing about applying social media to business. I do not think the level was a good match to the majority of the group.

    Not too swept away with the announcements at end from attendees. (I didn't attend last month, so don't know how it worked then.) Besides taking a long time, it was distracting having the pause between speaker and Q&A. If you continue to have it, maybe limit questions to a certain amount of time, and then go into the announcements--although people might start leaving. I think everybody introducing themselves would have taken about the same time, and is more useful for the group as a whole--networking is good, too, and having everyone introduce themselves is a good way to focus away from your immediate table to others and what they are doing--although I can see it delays getting things started. Although I was hungry and had dinner, it would be nice to have one or two lighter choices for $4-5 for when you want a snack and to support the group, but don't want a the whole meal. Laura and Adam, thanks for organizing things! Nice room and interesting speakers.

    As in the name it was an "Overview" or plug for more intense usage of social media. I'd prefer more specific advice in these meetups.

    Very interesting and valuable presentation. I am still having hard time to see how I can use social media to promote my online investment newsletter, but it is worth digging this new trend. Thanks. Chris

    Wonderful Meetup! Great information delivered by engaging and very knowledgeable presenters. The strategies shared by Benn and Lani this evening can be implemented by most of the small business attendees tomorrow morning. Thank you so much for organizing this event. H. Sandra Chevalier-Batik

    Lani and Ben Rosales were very engaging speakers, generous with their knowledge. I had feared that the presentation might have been a repeat of a talk I heard Lani give last week at the Social Media Club and I was glad to find what they had to say original and refreshing. --- Best wishes to Laura for a smooth delivery!
