*NEW: If it rains, inside the place*
Lounge in a terrace, next to the restaurant terrace, not too big, not too small, with space for standing and talking to each other. It is located at beach level (nice views and fresh air!!), UNDER the giant golden fish next to Hotel Arts. The website is www.shoko.biz.
I managed to book half terrace (?! :-) for us from 7 PM to 9 PM but, of course, we cannot ask for exclusivity for the whole terrace. Anyway, I have the feeling that the place is special, cool and good for talking to each other and have a good time. Moreover, if after the meeting we feel like having dinner, we can just go to the restaurant next door. I wouldn't bother to book in advance.

One final comment to recommend you Shoko for business and personal events. They prepared a nice lounge for us and treated us nicely. You can contact Viki for organizing the events.
Posted by Olga Torres Hostench June 15, 2010 at 10:22 AMHi Linchpins... I missed yesterdays meetup as I was in Madrid doing some Linchpin work (I even mentioned good old Seth) and only landed in Barcelona late at night. I sent you all my good vibes, and I hope you felt them... see you next time. Jaime.
Posted by Jaime Castelló June 15, 2010 at 7:44 AMThank you for coming to the meeting! I think I was very lucky to have to chance to meet you. I would not have met you otherwise as I work in a different sector. I liked you were positive despite the weather and charismatic. Special people indeed. * And thank you also for those who registered but did not come (it counted for the statistics, anyway)! Valentina created a post-meeting group in Facebook called "Linchpin Barcelona". You can join if you want to be in touch. Have a nice day.
Posted by Olga Torres Hostench June 15, 2010 at 7:23 AMThomas, thank you for telling us. Join the post-meeting group in Facebook created by Valentina!
Posted by Olga Torres Hostench June 14, 2010 at 5:28 PMWishing you all a great evening. Unfortunately the linchpin of our family decided to get chicken pox today.
Cheers.
Posted by Thomas Maas June 14, 2010 at 5:22 PMNice! I'll try to be there on time! :D
Posted by Daniel Díaz June 14, 2010 at 3:57 PMDaniel - Confirmed: Networking, but with people who more or less shares Seth Godin's creative and positive view on change, work and life. From my point of view, this is a good filter. Don't you think?
Posted by Olga Torres Hostench June 14, 2010 at 3:46 PMDaniel - The main aim of the meeting is to meet interesting people. Not necessarily talk about the Linchpin book. Below some ideas from the Linchpin magazine: ?Find out how the linchpins you meet have overcome their lizard brain / are linchpins in their life
Posted by Olga Torres Hostench June 14, 2010 at 3:41 PM?Ask everybody you meet to finish the sentence ?Wouldn?t it be great if . . . ? and write down all those ideas
?Ask everybody you meet to tell you the thing they wished they had started 2 / 5 / 10 years ago
ANYWAY, FEEL FREE!
Many thanks Olga, and waht is the agenda? Just networking?
Posted by Daniel Díaz June 14, 2010 at 3:40 PMLeticia, of course you can come at 20.30 h! - Daniel, I'm sure we will speak in Catalan and Spanish as well! It is weird to talk in English to someone you know is from Barcelona! (It is not a language exchange meeting ;-)
Posted by Olga Torres Hostench June 14, 2010 at 3:30 PMThe meeting sounds very cool but I am fnishing a seminar today at 8pm so probably I will arive 8.30 to Shoko. too late? Tell me so I decide if I have to come or not. I have camera too but Jose is like Richard Avedon. And I could write also, more than 10 years as a journalist besides psychologist:)) But my intuition says Valentina could do a excelent work( I don´t know her but my intuition is wise
Posted by Leticia Brando June 14, 2010 at 3:21 PMHi Everybody!
I have two questions:
1) What are we going to do? I mean, what is the agenda?
2) Are we going to speak in English?
Many thanks,
Posted by Daniel Díaz June 14, 2010 at 3:14 PMDaniel
Me! :-)
Posted by José Cruset June 14, 2010 at 2:58 PMAnyone bringing a camera? I cannot bring mine!
Posted by Olga Torres Hostench June 14, 2010 at 2:34 PMHmm, my comment went through? Anyway, here is the facebook group: http://www.facebook.com/gro...
Posted by Valentina June 14, 2010 at 9:31 AMAnd yes, I can also write the article (in Spanish and English), BUT I will need a native English person to do the proofreading ;) Volunteers connect with me in facebook!
The group is build: just search for Linchpin Barcelona (nice Linchpin Wordle as picture) in groups or click here: http://www.facebook.com/gro...
Posted by Valentina June 14, 2010 at 9:29 AMCU all tonight!
Hey guys, to make the most of the meeting it would be nice to do some post-meeting activities. I bet you want to get involved more actively and this is your chance to do it. We need someone who: (i) creates a Facebook group called ?Barcelona Linchpins?; (ii) writes the 250 words article for the Linchpin magazine; (iii) review/translate the article in English (please, a native English speaker); (iv)takes the cards from the jar and sends the information sends it to all participants. Volunteers???
Posted by Olga Torres Hostench June 14, 2010 at 6:59 AMI?ll bring: the flag; some DIN-A4 posters with Linchpin quotations; a jar to collect cards/contact information; some paper; stickers to write your name on them; a Linchpin book I want you to sign (it will be my personal souvenir from the meeting) (you can bring yours or any other book you like); a list of participants (I?m sure more people and friends will show up. They are welcome.) Please bring anything interesting, useful, inspiring and/or funny (for example, to start, bring yourself).
Posted by Olga Torres Hostench June 14, 2010 at 6:57 AMProposed schedule for today: 19 h. Meeting / 20 h. Group picture with the flag / 21 h. Last drink inside (Shoko invites) / Goodbye or (improvised) dinner.

Posted by Olga Torres Hostench June 12, 2010 at 4:51 AMHi Guys, I've persuade a fellow member of Seth Godin's Triiibes network, Steve Cunningham, to give access to some Linchpin related material he has presented in his "Read it for Me" service. You can access the podcasts, webinars and interviews through the following link www.polarunlimited.com/linchpi
n-meetup There is around 2 hours of material accessible so get yourself a good drink and comfy seat and enjoy! Bill @simplifywithus
Posted by Bill Gemmell June 12, 2010 at 12:11 AMSee below. If it worked in a Palo Alto networking meeting it may work in Barcelona. We can try ;-)
Posted by Olga Torres Hostench June 11, 2010 at 8:14 AM"1) Every one was interested in you first
2) If at any time you found your self alone someone talked to you
3) If you approached a group they immediately stopped talking and invited you in
4) If your conversation had reached a natural end then you just excused your self
(from David Batup)
"The Culture of Connection. Linchpins don't work in a vacuum. Your personality and attitude are more important than the actual work you create, because indispensable work is work that is connected to others."(from Linchpin page ix) * Most of us in the meeting don't know each other and work in different areas. Interdisciplinary connections may be more than useful and interesting. You never know.
Posted by Olga Torres Hostench June 11, 2010 at 8:06 AMPlan B if it rains: inside the place. No problem. By the way, we booked from 19.00 to 21.00 h. As there is another event at 21.30 h, they will kindly ask us to go inside at 21.00 h to prepare the other event. After 21 h, Shoko will invite us to champagne inside. I hope you can come even it if rains. As a matter of fact, specially if it rains ;-) My to-do list at work is burning but I will reserve that evening for the meeting. See you there!

Posted by Olga Torres Hostench June 8, 2010 at 7:29 AMGreat, Olga! I will bring a vase with along and thin tail where we can put the stick of the flag into. Will be great fun!
Posted by José Cruset June 8, 2010 at 12:19 AMHi all, I'll bring a red flag (with a Linchpin book cover if possible), but I do not know where to hang it! Maybe we can take a picture with it on the beach... Best, Olga
Posted by Olga Torres Hostench June 8, 2010 at 12:03 AMThe cover of Seth´s book: a fist with a flash.
Posted by José Cruset June 6, 2010 at 2:23 PMWhat does a linchpin flag look like? ;-) Good plan. Nice quote from George Bernard Shaw.
Posted by Conor June 6, 2010 at 2:18 PMGreat initiative! Anyone has a (even small) linchpin flag we can raise (and waive!) at Shoko? :-)
Posted by José Cruset June 6, 2010 at 1:38 PMFrom the Linchpin Magazine:
Posted by Olga Torres Hostench June 4, 2010 at 7:36 AM"If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange these apples then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas. George Bernard Shaw"
Hello Olga and all LINCHPINs in Barcelona! It looks gorgeous there and I can warm it up even more. Do you want everyone know who you are and what you stand for, even before the event? Do you want to connect with other LINCHPINs all over the world? Can you reach out to lonely LINCHPINs?(There are lots of I'm-the-only-LINCHIPIN-in-my-t
own.) Here's how. http://bit.ly/9bJtMO
This is the easiest way of connecting with other LINCHPINs online. Join us. Thank you for reading and have a nice day :)

BTW, our meeting is the the largest in Europe after London and Paris. ;-)
Posted by Olga Torres Hostench May 28, 2010 at 7:20 PMFYI, I have just received this message from Seth Godin:
"I'm thrilled that you're doing this, thanks. You guys are amazing... I have a lot of trouble keeping up with you.
I'm going to try to create a special digital souvenir for the event and wanted to connect today and show my appreciation. More on this in a few weeks.
Welcome to summer, and I look forward to seeing how these events go. It's always interesting!
Thanks again.
Seth"
Posted by Olga Torres Hostench May 28, 2010 at 7:18 PMHi! Have you seen the idea of the magazine? Any of you is sort of journalist? Will you think of any idea/story we can send to the magazine after the meeting? Any of you is a photographer? Thanks!
Posted by Olga Torres Hostench May 28, 2010 at 4:09 PMSee you there,
Posted by Alfredo Cipriani May 27, 2010 at 8:52 AMAlfredo.
If you cannot make it, please say it in advance to talk to SHOKO, and if you are coming with friends, please tell us also so we know how many we can be at the end. ;-)
Posted by Olga Torres Hostench May 26, 2010 at 11:26 PMUnfortunately, on Monday Sal Cafe closes at 5 PM. They were very nice and offered us the possibility to stay from 5 to 7, but most of us are working at that time. I recommend you Sal Café anyway for the food, the people and the beach.
Posted by Olga Torres Hostench May 26, 2010 at 11:24 PMI am a big fun of Seth Godin?s blog and books and I am very excited to have the chance to talk to intelligent and creative people as you!! (otherwise you would not read him, wouldn?t you?) Isn't it great to have someone (I mean Seth) who is optimistic and creative (not talking about the crisis the whole time) who invites us daily to make the most of ourselves? Wow, I feel really lucky to have the chance to go to the meeting!!
Posted by Olga Torres Hostench May 26, 2010 at 11:24 PMSee you there!!!

Posted by Olga Torres Hostench May 24, 2010 at 11:19 AMI had an idea. Bring your Linchpin book (or any other interesting book) and we all can sign each other's book to remember this meeting. From then on, it will be the Linchpins book!
