Online Resources for Boardgamers

Thought I would just share a few Internet resources for Boardgamers that I have come across in the last year. -- Ted

BoardGameGeek -- Everything related to board games: game ratings, game reviews, game descriptions, forums on games, marketplace listings for games; you name it, it's here!

BrettSpielWelt (Board Game World) -- A German website (with many international and English speaking users as well) where you can play many Euro style board games against other online players, including Carcassonne, Saint Petersburg, etc. Over 40 games in all. Note that there is an English language version of the website, just click on the Union Jack flag button and the website will display in English. There is a companion website that explains BrettSpielWelt in more detail for English users at BrettSpielWelt Info.

MabiWeb -- Can play some Euro's (like Samurai) online in a turn a day format.

Yucata -- Another site similar to MabiWeb. (Make sure to click on the English icon in the upper left).

Carcassonne Central -- All things Carcassonne!

Cyberboard -- Board gaming system for playing board games by electronic mail.

The Dice Tower -- A very good podcast on board gaming. In addition, there are game reviews and miscellaneous stuff at the site.

Automated Card Tracking System -- ACTS facilitates the play of card-based wargames by e-mail, by tracking the state of the decks and players' hands throughout the game. It was originally designed for use with Avalon Hill's We the People. It was later extended for use with other games of that system (Hannibal, For the People), as well as completely different games (Blue vs Gray, Titan, Twilight Struggle), and they continue to add modules as time permits.

TripleA -- An Axis and Allies clone, with many user designed custom scenarios. Mainly to foster live online play as well as play by email, but includes a rudimentary AI for solo play.

PlayCatan -- You can download a client to play Settler's games (including the card game) online. Also there are some Catan tutorials and browser based game variants available.
