Walk/Hike at Newport News Park

To keep up a healthy body and mind, join us for some fresh air, exercise, and interesting discussions.

We've done this park once before and found that the easiest access to a good trail (The White Oak Trail) and good parking is at the Discover Center, which is at the following Google Maps coordinates:

The 13560 Jefferson address is actually for the Visitor Center at the front of the park, where we met up last time before driving to the Discover Center. Email me or post in the comments section if you have any questions or concerns.

If there's another trail you like that's more conveniently located, go ahead and post an event for it. I try to stick to either a Saturday or Sunday where nothing else is planned during the day (evening meetups usually don't conflict with these walks).

Hey, I like Sandy Bottom, if you do the loop around the wetlands twice, plus to and from the parking lot it's a 5K, easy to track. Newport News park is in better shape, still muddy areas in the spring with all the rain, but they dry out. I'm a member of the TATC, Tidewater Appalachian Trail Club, so I love going out for a good hike and we do trail maintenance to help out since most of these places don't have the resources to do all the upkeep. Noland Trail is always good. Here's some other ones, http://www.everytrail.... I'm doing the Bells Hills 10K in Chesapeake on the morning of the 18th if anyone's interested.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
