Isabella Blow: Fashion Galore! at Somerset House

Somerset House, in partnership with the Isabella Blow Foundation and Central Saint Martins, is proud to present Isabella Blow: Fashion Galore!, a major fashion exhibition celebrating the extraordinary life and wardrobe of the late British patron of fashion and art.

I think this should be a real treat for anyone who has an interest in fashion. For more information please see the  website. The exhibition is in the Embankment Galleries (in the South Wing on the map). We'll meet by the doors leading to the exhibition at street level on the building's riverbank side (Victoria Embankment) at 6.30 and go in at 6.45.

Last time we attended an exhibition at Somerset House it was fully booked and those without tickets were not able to view it, so I would strongly recommend booking in advance to ensure you will be able to get in. You can book online here. I didn't get charged a booking fee last time I used their online booking site and the ticket was sent by email.

Full Price Ticket £12.50

Concession Price Ticket £10.00

After viewing the exhibition, depending on what those attending want to do, we'll go somewhere locally for food/drinks and a chat.

A thoroughly intriguing and absorbing collection of clothes, hats and shoes. Loved the fashion photography as well (in the side room upstairs) that Isabella Blow was instrumental in.
The 'circular salon' was a bit difficult to find (up the stairs next to the red dress that has the title photo collar), it would be such a shame to miss this: I thought these were the most interesting dresses. Wildly creative, just wonderful.
Very interesting exhibits on her personal early and later life too. Some intriguing video of fashion shows. I am so glad I could go, in spite of the tube strike.

I stood outside with a MeetUp sign but was a little early so went in at 6:30 which was my slot. Hung around until 7:30 and am now in Covent Garden where I had booked a table for us all .... What a fantastic show...lots of flashbacks to amazing times I was having in the 90's and McQueen and Treacy are just superstars....Ms Blow ..found them first .....which always helps ....

I have a horrible headache today and think that the long walk there and concentrating on the exhibition will make it worse, so I'm not able to attend tonight. Really sorry. Hope you all manage to meet up and enjoy the exhibition and hope to see some of you at the next meeting too.

I work in NW London on Thursdays - it's just going to be too awkward to get to the exhibition with the strike. What a shame.

I live opposite Somerset House and have a ticket for entry latest 6:30 so if you see me inside the exhibition please say hello. I shall be wearing a tweed cap and jacket with owl like round specs ...... I shall checkout the bar I mentioned below (which is three mins from the Strand/Aldwych) ... and ascertain they can handle a crowd of crafty characters unless one of you has a better location in mind.

I figured out how to walk to Somerset House from work (if need be) so I am all set to be there. Looking forward to seeing the exhibition. See you.

Let's hope they call the tube strike off. On the other hand if we have to use a bus anyway: the crowds trying to board buses should have thinned out a bit by later in the evening.

Loved the exhibition. Makes me want to be more adventurous with my clothes and wear extraordinary hats. Word of warning- no handbags bigger than A4 size are allowed in ( and they have to be a flattish A4) and you will have to go and queue to put them in the cloakroom if you have anything bigger than that at the cost for £1 for every 2 items. The cloakroom is not a regular one and items deposited seem to be strewn across the floor- they couldn't seem to find one woman's handbag and offered her a Stella McCartney handbag, which she said wasn't hers - I'd have claimed it in the blink of an eye.
There are several interesting videos of St Martin's student shows in the exhibition but the screens are very small and they may be difficult to see if there is a crowd. Make sure you see all the exhibition as it is on several levels and there are various rooms.

Yay, I have my ticket! I booked to go in between[masked], that should give us enough time to wait for stragglers and still get in.
