Introduction

I recently changed jobs to have more time to sew and wanted to meet others here in Austin!

What is your history with sewing?

My mother claimed we couldn't afford any toys for my pet dog Muñeco. But she had the perfect solution: a hand drawn and sewn corduroy doll. I've been sewing since.

Tell us about your sewing machine(s).

Millenium Series Singer which I bought to sew my wedding dress fifteen years ago. Wedding never happened, but the machine works great!

When you make a mistake while sewing, what do you do?

Um. Seamrip and redo. Get pissed if I make the same mistake.

What's your favorite thing you've ever sewn? Can we see a picture?

Two years ago I knocked off a dress from the Banana Republic using a soft navy wool flannel with the simple design. Looks cool with knee high boots. And its snuggly warm.

If skill, time, and resources were no issue, what would you sew right now?

A backless yellow floor length silk dress, similar to the green piece Knightly wore in Redemption.

Hello. I'm sending this note to all who attended last night's meetup. Please respond. Thanks! Hi there, Sewers! I'm in the market for a new sewing machine. My 21-year old Kenmore finally died. I was thinking this may be the last machine I purchase, and wanted a very good one. Bernina has always held particular appeal for me, but not their price. Any suggestions from anyone about a machine for my future? I like garment sewing, mending, quilting, embroidery for capabilities. What would you buy???
