What is your history with sewing?

I made my first dress when I was ten, so a little over 40 years ago. I do mostly garments, at one point I made most of my clothes for work. I have done some home dec and a few quilts that were strip pieced.

Tell us about your sewing machine(s).

I have a Babylock Decorators Choice which I love. It threads easily and has two needle positions. My serger is also a Babylock. It is the Imagine 4 thread model. I love it's jet air threading feature. That one I am just beginning to learn about as I purchased it shortly before my decline in sewing.

When you make a mistake while sewing, what do you do?

If it's stitches I remove them and try again. If it's a major issue like cutting something out wrong, etc. I always stop and do something different for a while maybe as much as a day, then return with a clear head to determine if I can find a solution. Sometimes I search the internet for help if I can't come up with an answer on my own.

What's your favorite thing you've ever sewn? Can we see a picture?

Garment wise the favorite thing I have ever sewn was a yellow wool crepe dress made in1998 that no longer fits and I have given it away, so no picture. I do have pictures of a "Quilt In A Day" Christmas tree skirt which I made for my sister. That was the best one but I love the design and I've made several.

If skill, time, and resources were no issue, what would you sew right now?

I would love to tailor a blazer that I could wear for work.

I love to sew and am getting back into the swing of things after not doing much for several years. I would love to meet and get to know others who sew.
