What is your history with sewing?

I learned to hand-sew at 7 years old and machine sew after that. I started getting interested in sewing again around 8th grade, primarily in apparel. I worked for my university's costume shop and local theaters all 4 years of college.

Tell us about your sewing machine(s).

I have a Janome mechanical machine, a Juki 4-thread overlock, and a recently-acquired 1930's Singer. I'd love to add industrial machines in the future.

When you make a mistake while sewing, what do you do?

It depends on the mistake! It often ends up on the backburner for a while while I cool down. If it's a quick fix a moment of frustration, and out comes the seam ripper!

What's your favorite thing you've ever sewn? Can we see a picture?

That's a difficult question! I still love my first pleated skirt I made out of upholstery fabric, but my Renfrew tops and New Look 6000 dresses get the most wear.

If skill, time, and resources were no issue, what would you sew right now?

I'd actually sew through my stash to get to all my planned party dresses!

I learned to sew as a child and picked it up again seriously in high school. I've been sewing ever since! I moved to Austin in May, 2014, and travel frequently for work but join the meetup whenever I'm in Austin!
