My mom taught me some essentials when I was young. She sews a bit, although hemming, repairing and that kind of thing are all that I can recall seeing her do, rather than making anything from "scratch." I went through a time as a kid when I loved to make basic pillows, then I wasn't all that interested for many years, until early 2009, when I felt compelled to pick it up again. I haven't looked back since! I sometimes sew crafts (primarily bags, gifts and such), though my focus is definitely garments. I really enjoy the online sewing community and have learned a lot from it, but I also love getting together with IRL sewing buddies. :)
I started with a very basic mechanical Kenmore, which worked great and is still my backup, but in 2011 I upgraded to a Brother PC-420PRW. I also have a Brother 1034D serger.
I've developed a trusting relationship with my seam rippers, and if it's more than just an unpick-and-restitch issue, I can usually turn it into a design feature. Some of my favorite details about my projects have resulted from a problem that could have turned it into a wadder! It's rare for me to chuck it, but it does happen on occasion.
Probably whatever I finished most recently. :) Most of my pics are either on my blog, Flickr, or Instagram. My user ID is moonthirty everywhere.
Everything in my wardrobe.
I love being a part of this group, learning from everyone and meeting with friends to share in this awesome craft. While sewing is my favorite creative outlet, I also knit, embroider, bake, crochet, etc. I blog at moonthirty.com.
