What is your history with sewing?

I took a few classes when I was 12, and had a crash course in sewing/crafting when I made a costume last Halloween of the character Illyria from the TV show Angel.

Tell us about your sewing machine(s).

I got my Kenmore sewing machine from my great-grandmother. She sewed clothes for families in battered women's shelters until the day of her death at age 100.

When you make a mistake while sewing, what do you do?

Often start over because that's the kind of mistake I do. But a stitch ripper is mighty convenient at times.

What's your favorite thing you've ever sewn? Can we see a picture?

My Illyria costume is the only thing I have a picture of. You can see the whole process by clicking the "Illyia" tag at the bottom.

If skill, time, and resources were no issue, what would you sew right now?

A bridemaid's dress for a wedding I have this year. Dull, but useful.

I'm Carrie. I have a patchy history of sewing, but I love it and want to learn more.
