What is your history with sewing?

I learned to sew in middle school, but somewhere between high school and college I lost touch with my sewing machine and time. I began sewing again when I received a machine as a wedding gift. I've been learning a lot the past 3 years through practice and the online sewing community.

Tell us about your sewing machine(s).

I have a Janome HD1000 and a 1951 Singer 201-2.

When you make a mistake while sewing, what do you do?

Depending on the severity of a mistake, I would proceed to fix it or work around it. And sometimes I need a break before proceeding!!

What's your favorite thing you've ever sewn? Can we see a picture?

My current favorite garment is my seersucker sundress, seen here: http://thegarmentfarmer.wordpress.com/2013/06/27/sundress-study-in-stripes/ But give me another month or two--I think I'm improving with each garment, and I'll probably have a new favorite.

If skill, time, and resources were no issue, what would you sew right now?

I'd like to sew a perfectly fitting jacket out of some plaid wool that was given to me, originally purchased in Scotland many years ago. I don't dare touch it till I've got a coat or two under my belt first.

I mostly sew garments and a little bit of home decor and accessories. I just moved to Texas from California, and I'm still looking for great local fabric shops.
