I wore a Vogue jumpsuit that I made to my first Home Ec sewing class in 7th Grade…how funny is that….sewing my whole life.
I have an electronic Pfaff sewing machine - it is a work horse and I will never be able to justify replacing it, its fine-except the button hole function is horrible. I compromised because I got a great deal - but I always regretted not splurging on the Bernina. Didn't make that mistake with the serger- I replaced my 1990 serger recently with a Babylock Wave that has an amazing self-threading system- a game changer- I love it.
Matching fabric to a design is my biggest challenge- lots of bad projects due to poor fabric choice- I am extremely discriminating now. I do sample swatches for drape, stitch length and interfacing before I start a project now.
No picture yet, its currently in production. I took Susan Khaljie's Chanel-Style Jacket course earlier this year- need to finish all the hand sewing- I will bring it to a meeting.
I have always been fascinated with the Chanel jacket- it was a lifelong dream to master tailoring techniques and I was finally able to attend the Khaljie immersion course this year and learn it. I spared no expense with materials and the process was epic- my goal is to make two a year- so I guess I am living the dream.
Sewing can be a solitary hobby and I need to interact with people. So I am that girl who talks to you at the pattern table at JoAnn's about your project. I am very excited to find this group.
Very well organized group- creative ideas for meet-ups. I look forward to the next one.
