What is your history with sewing?

I started by sewing Renaissance Faire costumes with one of my best friends, back in Ann Arbor. Eventually I began to make regular clothing for myself and before I knew it, I was sewing almost all of my own clothes! I am entirely self-taught with the occasional online course to learn more advanced techniques.

Tell us about your sewing machine(s).

My primary machine is a Baby Lock Elizabeth. I love her! My backup machine is my old Viking Huskystar... but I'm really looking to replace that with a serger in the near future.

When you make a mistake while sewing, what do you do?

First, pour wine. Second, grab the seam ripper. Third, have a party... mistakes happen! Depends on the mistake, but fixing them often teaches me more about sewing than the non-mistakes.

What's your favorite thing you've ever sewn? Can we see a picture?

To date, the dress I am most proud of is my Tangerine Tango confection of a dress! Pictures here: http://wp.me/p2IaeS-el. My favorite party dress look was my sequined Gatsby number: http://wp.me/p2IaeS-x5.

If skill, time, and resources were no issue, what would you sew right now?

I drool over Marfy patterns... and if I have a reason someday, I will make this dress: http://shops.mccall.com/fs600-products-15057.php?page_id=2649

Introduction

I'm a Los Angeles transplant, new to Austin! By day I am a librarian and by night I sew like a maniac. I'm also the author of http://www.school....
