i learned to sew from my grandmother on an old black singer. at first i sewed doll clothes, but soon started sewing clothes for myself. these days i like to remake/upcycle thrift store finds as well as sew from commercial patterns and self-drafted patterns.
bernina 1130, huskylock 4 thread serger. i long for a coverstitch machine! someday...
my seam ripper is a good friend! ;-)
i think i choose favorites based on fabric more than style. i admit it: i'm a fabricaholic. i remember a wonderful piece of Liberty of London cotton lawn i bought in philadelphia in the early 70's...
my current challenge is to make a set of slopers that really fit. i also want to figure out sewing knits. i would make a dozen art-y, funky t shirts, since that's what i live in these days.
i'm a life-long artist, now retired, and i have plenty of time to sew, but often lack the motivation. i'm looking forward to meeting a community of other sewists, and the envigorating effects of sharing our sewing experiences.
good mix of topics and great group of sewists! i think it will help keep me motivated to get some new sewing done. everyone is always very generous with helpful advice. i'm looking forward to the next meeting.
