Kim Ji-hoon's disaster film "The Tower" has become South Korea's biggest box office smash of the season, surpassing 4 million admissions in less than three weeks of release.  Starring Sol Kyung-gu ("Peppermint Candy"), Kim Sang-kyung ("Memories of Murder") and Son Ye-jin ("A Moment to Remember").

Synopsis: When a freak accident sets the top floors of a luxury skyscraper ablaze on Christmas Eve, trapped survivors must put aside their differences to get out alive.

    Pretty much par for the disaster-movie course -- big, manipulative, obvious -- but elevated by Ahn Sung-ki's presence and some scene thievery by character actor Kim In-kwon.
