Taiwan Film Days, the San Francisco Film Society's annual three-day series of new Taiwanese works, is back for its fourth installment, this time presenting six contemporary features and Edward Yang's New Wave classic "A Brighter Summer Day."
The festival opens with writer-director Fung Kai's debut feature, "Din Tao: Leader of the Parade," a sleeper-hit musical dramedy based on the exploits of the Jyou-Tian Folk Drum and Arts Group.
Fung Kai is scheduled to appear in person to introduce the film and conduct a Q&A.
Synopsis: Young Ah-Tai, who wants nothing more than to play rock guitar in Taipei, begrudgingly takes up his estranged father's beloved din-tao (traditional drumming) in rural Taichung when a childhood rival challenges him.
