November Freebase Meetup: Google Refine 2.0 / Schema modeling

This location is shown only to members

Our meetups are a chance to learn about Freebase, hear some great talks about how people are using it, and hang out with other Freebase developers, data contributors, and community members.

This month's talks:

1. We have a shiny new schema editor, recently released on Freebase.com. Gordon Mackenzie will be demoing it and showing you how to build schema (aka ontologies, aka data models) for Freebase. This will be a great beginner-level talk to understand how you can model data in Freebase!

2. David Huynh will be showing off Google Refine 2.0 (previously known as Gridworks). Google Refine 2.0 is a free, power tool for working with messy data, cleaning it up, transforming it from one form into another, extending it with more data from web services, and linking it with databases like Freebase. Come learn what data wrangling magic Google Refine can do for you.

We're seeking speakers! If you'd like to present a demo, how-to, or any other short talk at this or any other Freebase meetup, please get in touch.

Be sure to RSVP, as security won't let you into the building if you're not on the list.

As usual, afterwards we will be convening to Gordon Biersch (downstairs, on the corner of Embarcadero and Harrison) for drinks/food and further Freebase-related chat. No RSVP required for that part.
