Blessings upon Blessings

A life filled with love and blessings from others, oils the wheels of my life.  My life becomes smoother and easier, it adds a subtle purpose and joy for living.  Without good wishes from others life feels difficult, it’s a toil; much like pushing a cart with wheels that have become old and rusty!

Blessings are well-wishing thoughts!  Sweet tidings!  They are positive and loving energies that naturally emerge from the depth of the heart of the sender — without the receiver even asking for them.  Blessings are emitted ‘freely’ to the beneficiary without any price tag attached.  Blessings are ‘free’ in that there are no expectations from the side of the sender nor the receiver!

One can never really ask or beg for blessings, blessings have to be earned.  Good, benevolent, consistent deeds are a great source of earning blessings.  For example, we can give a helping hand by cooperating; perhaps a smile to indicate how beautiful it is to see someone!  Every time we give a drop of happiness to someone, we leave a sweet memory in their heart – we win their heart.

Winning here implies, we win someone’s trust, love or confidence i.e. one more ‘fan’ is added to my soul database!  Someone loves me because I was easy to work with or get along with or I went out of my way for them.  And since life is all about getting along with people and living in harmony on spaceship Earth, and if I have passed the tests of giving and being able to receive in relationships well, life will certainly reward me!

You know blessings are coming your way for they add a pleasant surprise – they add a lift to your enthusiasm and courage; a little extra joy to your life.  For it proves that you are on the right track.  You have definitely shared some happiness along the way, which is why this positive energy is boomeranging back to you.

We all need blessings in our life; blessings are like nourishment; we can never have enough of them.  When our money is blessed it stretches further than its monetary value.  When I am blessed with food, the abundance of it stretches further than the actual quantity.  When I am blessed then everything goes ‘right’ and there is gratitude for life.

Well intended effort is rewarded by others with the blessings of regard, respect, love, cooperation and a string of other beautiful qualities.  So this really raises the question of whether blessings are received automatically and organically, or as a result of effort taken to perform good deeds i.e. good karma?  We may continue receiving blessings because the ‘blesser’ is generous, but that will be for all… but genuine blessings from the hearts dedicated especially to you, will come as you make a conscious effort to do good and serve humanity with humility and generosity.

In fact it is the display of authentic virtues that really earns us blessings.  Every time I exercise a value or virtue in my life, I send out those good feelings which come back to me as good wishes and positive vibrations.  For example, if I give up my seat to someone else, that would be exercising humility, or if I go out of my way to fit someone into my busy schedule, that would be exercising generosity, or if I simply have a light, easy and gentle nature and am not a nuisance to others, I earn blessings for being just the way I am!

This is perhaps why blessings naturally emerge from our heart for some people, while for others we have to work hard to find something within them to bless!  This is why appreciating others is an important art to acquire, for as your blessings reach out to them, they come back multiplied.

Since we could all do with a little extra bonus in the form of blessings in our life, it would be good to practice exercising virtue and to make others happy at all times.  Causing pain and suffering only brings suffering and curses and then we wonder at the end of the day where we went wrong.  But think, how many people did I consciously share happiness with?

Therefore if I want to be blessed or seek blessings from God or others, I need not ask for them, but instead ask myself what is ‘blessing worthy’ in my life, and why should God or anyone go out of their way to bless me!

It’s time… to bless yourself!  Make a concerted effort to integrate virtues and values into your life in order to make yourself ‘blessing-worthy’.  As you continue to share happiness with others at every step, you will be sowing the seeds of good deeds and with time the wheels of your life will remain well oiled.  You will feel so blessed that you will become your own number one fan!
