*Please take note of the important check-in details at Yelp*
By popular demand, our November meetup will be another "social" event... to give us an opportunity to check out what other Android developers are up to.
So, if you are interested in presenting on something near-and-dear to you (that is related to Android), then this is your shot at the podium.
In these informal lightning-talk style mini presentations, you could share best practices and tips & tricks; discuss tools, frameworks, or interesting APIs; ask questions; present ideas and solicit feedback; and even demo code. We just ask that you keep your presentation short (ideally up to 5 minutes) and non-commercial. Think developers, not customers.
If you know you'd like to do a lighting talk, there is nothing "special" that you need to do (it's OK not to use slides), but consider posting a short blurb about what you would like to discuss as a comment below.
Finally, we recommend that you check out our best practices for presenting if you are brave enough to get on the stage.
The venue, food, and drinks (beer as well) will be provided by Yelp. The giveaways will be provided by our other sponsors.

Will video of the lightning talks be posted by Marakana or another entity? I have a good audio recording ( 2012-11-27_AndroidMeetup 38.3 MB) of the lightning talks.

Much better than I expected. The speakers were amazing, sessions were informative, and the audience was engaged. Yelp folks really took care of us! Thanks everyone!

That was excellent! Perhaps, if we schedule far in advance, we can pull off the single-topic lightening talks. That would be very cool.

I'm the Lead Engineer for Yahoo! Sportacular -- I don't have speech prepared but I can answer questions. Any Sports fans?

I recently waded through building a system that downloads and caches images, for display in a UI. There were a couple of surprises that might be of interest. I'll talk about a few things that worked and a few that didn't.

In terms of topics for tomorrow's lightning talks, here are some ideas to consider: testing approaches, UI design-patterns, monetization strategies, frameworks, debugging techniques, app ideas/demos, native vs. mobile-web, 4.2 APIs, security issues, community involvement, custom ROMs, working with embedded devices, ADK, etc.
And don't forget that Yelp will be serving beer and wine :-)

I will show how I implemented puzzle games using Inkscape SVG files and an xml parser as opposed to android layouts and my own little "engine".

Yelp's AV setup takes in HDMI, DVI, and VGA. If you want to display your phone's screen, make sure to bring the appropriate adapter (usually, micro-USB to HDMI). Alternatively (maybe even preferably), use the emulator.
November 26
I will talk about a native app I am working on, some aspects of Java and why Titanium might be interesting.
I hope a phone display can be projected on the wall?
