Education Volunteer training classes for The Marine Mammal Center!

Come learn about all the things we see when sailing around the Bay.

This is exactly how my interest in marine mammals began: sailing, seeing things, and wanting to know if it was a sea lion or a seal.

This is one of the most fun volunteer jobs around and is a great opportunity to meet people and work for a great cause.

Become an Education Volunteer at The Marine Mammal Center!

Interested in spreading your passion and knowledge of The Marine Mammal Center and its work to others?  The Education Department is holding a two-day training for all those who want to help docent at the Information Desk, engage visitors at the 2nd level overlook where the animals are, and begin the process of becoming a tour guide.

The classes will be held on Wednesday, April 3 and Friday, April 5 at the Center in Sausalito, from 10-4. Attendance is required for both days. Volunteers are required to commit 16 hours a month (1 4-hr shift a week) for a minimum of 6 months.

For more information or to register for the training, please email [masked] or call [masked].

More info on the types of opportunities is here: http://www.marinemammalcenter.org/Get-Involved/volunteer/#.UUoLzxesiSo

It was a great learning experience. Having grown up in Marin, it was fascinating to learn about my 'backyard.' Please note that the training is a two-day training and costs $50. That wasn't in the meetup notice that I saw. Totally worth it though.

Thank you everyone for volunteering for this, and be sure to sign up with The Marine Mammal Center in advance at the contact information in the event posting above! Lots of baby sea lions and seals now at the Center.
