Beginning Birding (free)

This was originally scheduled for 6/2 but was canceled by the sponsor, and then rescheduled on 7/7.

This was so much fun I thought I'd go  again.

Spring is back!  Welcome our avian migrants back to the Marin Headlands - join volunteer Jane Haley in an easy walk along Rodeo Lagoon to discover what birds visit us in passing through and who comes here to nest.

Meet at the Marin Headlands Visitor Center.

Bring binoculars and field guides if you have them.

No pets, ages 8 and up.  Rain cancels.

Limited spots available.  Call[masked] to make a free reservation in your name!

I was the only one who showed up from meetup (+ my 2 guests). There were folks there who had signed up directly, but no one from MU.

Aw, phooey - wish I'd thought of the possibility that there might be no-shows. Next time. ;)

Between the 2 groups it was about 90% no-shows.

Jane is a very knowledgeable guide and, although there were not that many birds to look at, she was very helpful in pointing out the species in the guide book, and telling us the differences between species, adult birds, male, female, young birds, etc. We did see an owl, that was pretty cool.

Didn't realize till late that I had to reserve separately, and they're completely booked now, so I'm changing my rsvp to No.

I suggest you call the Marin Headlands Visitor Center directly. I called and they did not have my name.

I don't have a field guide. You really won't need it.

I think it's like one of those cards you buy when you're going snorkeling. Shows the local fish to expect to see. Enjoyable to have but not necessary.

Hey everyone you definitely need to call to reserve a spot. I just reserved mine. They take up to 15 people and have 12 now that I signed up. The meetup group is not signed up as a group. Each person must reserve individually.

The posting does indeed say "Call[masked] to make a free reservation in your name!"
