Corinthian Yacht Club Speaker Series: AC Cupdate and Red Bull Internationals

Tom Ehman

Head of External Affairs for the 34th America’s Cup (ACEA)

Vice Commodore, Golden Gate Yacht Club

Michael Menninger

Helmsman, American Youth Sailing Force

San Francisco’s Home team for the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup

Since Tom Ehman started with the America’s Cup in 1980, he has served in many roles including rules advisor, team executive, event manager, and chairman of the Challenger Commission. Tom is always a funny and entertaining presenter for sailors of all ages. Come hear the latest AC news.

Michael Menninger is the helmsman for the American Youth Sailing Force, San Francisco's Home team for the Red Bull Youth America's Cup.  Michael grew up in Newport Beach CA and attended St. Mary's College of MD where he was three-time All American and two time National ICYRA Champion. He's twice won the Jr. World Match Championship.

As the Bay Area's home team, “The Force” has had the unique opportunity to train with Oracle Team USA. The training regimen includes sailing the incredibly fast AC45 catamarans they will be racing in the Red Bull Youth America's Cup Sept. 1 to 4 as well as working out in the gym with the OTUSA trainers using the same routines developed for the America's Cup World Series sailors.  In addition, because they are the home team, they've been able to reach out to young people in the bay area in a way that no other team can.

Come hear Tom Ehman and Michael Menninger.  We guarantee you'll leave with a new outlook at the America's Cup Summer of Racing.

No host bar opens at 6:30 p.m. and the presentation begins at 7:00 p.m.

There is no charge however please RSVP at: www.cyc.org or call (415) 435-4771.

Although I won't be attending, this looks very interesting!

To whomever the organizer was...so sorry I missed. I had a late afternoon appointment that turned into some minor sun damage surgery and my face was in no shape to share with all of you :) I am trying to get active in this group again - and so will try again. Would loved to have heard this speaker.

This was a great update on the America’s Cup teams. I am looking forward to seeing the youth team races. The video of Spithill’s special talents was lots of fun.

The talk was funny and informative and the venue was fabulous. The meet-up group only made up a few people among the attendees (most of whom were Corinthian members) but I really enjoyed the evening.

There's a reason Ehman's the boss. Excellent presentation. Good to hear and see next generation of US sailing stars. Thanks again CYC.

Another excellent, informative and fun talk from the CYC, however it wasn't really a meetup at all. There was no way to identify members of the Meetup group. I finally just starting asking everyone and anyone and managed to find a couple of people who were also trying to locate the meetup group.
