Hike To The Top OF Mt Burdell on Potluck on Top!

  • This location is shown only to members

Views from above are fantastic!

This will about a 6 mile hike w/ an elevation gain of about 1200'.

Some may consider this strenuous, depending on your condition.

I rate it as moderate.

The Plan:

I call it fun on the trail!

We'll hike a bit, then take a vino/snack break by the side of a small creek. Next we'll continue up towards the top of the world (at least in the Novato area), where we'll have our potluck lunch and enjoy the views in several directions.

Any questions can be directed to some third party service in The Philippines, India, Pakistan, or somewhere else where they handle problem solving and trouble shooting.  W/ my kindergarten education it's clearly over my head.

Hwy 101 to Novato off at San Marin Dr.

Head West on San Marin approx 2 miles and turn Right on San Andreas Dr.

Follow San Andreas close to the top and park in the residential area.  We'll jump on the trail there.

What To Bring:

Vino and cups!

Good Hiking Boots/shoes

Layered clothing, hat, sunscreen.

At least 1 liter of water (2 is better).  Fill your bladder/bottles 1/2 way and refrigerate the night before, then top off w/ ice in the a.m. and you'll have chilled water all day.

Vino/snacks for our pre-lunch break during the hike

Food - for our potluck up top (dried fruit/nuts/seeds, chips, dips, salsa, wraps, meats/cheeses, sliced sandwiches, salads, cheese/crackers, deserts - be creative!)

Drinks - vino, beer, tea, lemonade, whatever wets your whistle.

If you've been on any of my hikes you know what to expect.  The vino is required to be a part of this hike... OK, not really, but it's always nice when the vino to hiker ratio is high!

$5 activity fee

And as always, Your Sense of Humour is required!

This hike is posted to other Meetup sites so expect to make new friends.

This was a fun and invigorating hike. Not too challenging, except for one of the hills after the snack break. If you want to make it to the top on these hikes, I'd suggest forgoing the wine on the snack break/stop. A really fun group of people!

What is the time frame for this hike? I'm not in a hurry, but just want an idea of when I can expect to be driving back to the East Bay. Thanks!
