Hike & Potluck in Tilden Park in the Beautiful Hills above Berkeley

This hike will be 6+ miles and is rated easy to moderate, depending on your condition.  We should see the GG Bridge, Mt Tam, and Mt Diablo depending on weather.  This hike affords a nice view of the Berkeley/Orinda hills, and has been high on the list of hikes the grp has requested.

The Plan:

We'll meet at the Inspiration Point Trailhead and head out to check out the scenery.  Naturally there will be a vino/snack break, then later we stop on the trail for a potluck lunch, so bring the food and vino w/ you on the hike.

What To Bring:

Vino and cups!

Good Hiking Boots/shoes

Layered clothing, hat, sunscreen.

At least 1 liter of water (Fill your bladder/bottles 1/2 way and refrigerate the night before, then top off w/ ice in the a.m. and you'll have chilled water all day.

Vino/snacks for our pre-lunch break during the hike

Food, food, and more food (fish, wraps, cutup sandwiches, meats/cheeses, sourdough/crackers, dried fruit/nuts/seeds, chips, dips, salsa, deserts - be creative!)

Drinks - vino, beer, tea, juice, whatever wets your whistle.

If you've been on any of my hikes you know what to expect. The vino is required to be a part of this hike... OK, not really, but it's always nice when the vino to hiker ratio is high!

$5 activity fee

Your sense of humour is an absolute must!

37°54'18.18",  -122°14'40.29"

There are bathrooms at the trailhead, so please arrive early and be ready to hit the trail on time.  Carpooling is encouraged as there is limited parking in this lot.

This hike is posted to several other sites, so it will be a good opportunity to make new friends.

I unfortunately must cancel at the last moment; for I am coming down with flu-like symptoms-- coughing, sore throat, and high fever . I hope to make it to the next hiking event!

The park info says yes, and whether or not a leash is required is unclear.
