Sail for Newbies - Out of Alameda on Saturday Morning

The weatherman says that the warm dry weather is going to continue through the weekend and the forecast is for 70 degrees and mostly sunny skies.  I know we need the rain, but you gotta love it.

We will meet at the Oakland Yacht Club in Alameda at 1030 hours on Saturday morning at the flagpole in front of the yacht club (please bring my cell phone number with you in case you get lost or are running late and do not bother the marina managers).  There is plenty of free parking there.

The tide should be ebbing (Out the Gate), so we should be able to make a fast run over to Marin / Sausalito and then sail back after the Slack stopping over somewhere like Ayala Cove for lunch.

I expect that we will be out for about four or five hours.

We will experience many different wind and sea conditions and try all the points of sail.

Please bring a sweater and a jacket for when it cools off.  Bring foul weather gear and a PFD if you have them (I have some extras), and wear non-marking soled shoes.

You may participate in the sailing of the boat as much, or as little, as you desire.

I have ginger ale and bottled water on board.  Please bring a snack to share and whatever beverage you prefer - No RED wine, blueberries, or other things that stain.

Willin' is a big, modern, safe, well-equipped, well-maintained yacht with full electronics and instrumentation.  We will not be pushing her to her limits and we will enjoy a safe, comfortable sail.  I will control the RSVP and waiting lists to ensure that we have a good mix of newbies and experienced sailors.

There will be a half-hour orientation to get you familiar with the boat and safety procedures prior to our departure.

We have had some incredible outings in the past:

So, let's go sailing and have some fun.

Super fun day. Mark is a great organizer and the boat is very clean and fun for everyone. The group was also a good mix.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
