Sail from Gas House Cove, SF next to Ft. Mason FREE EVENT

We are a group of sailors who enjoy one another and the beauty of sail and the spectacular scenery. We have fun and everyone's personality seems to come out once we leave the mainland. Yea!

In order to be most comfortable, sailors should have a weather-proof jacket, pants and boots to stay warm and dry, sailing gloves to avoid rope burns, knee pads to soften the blow to your knees on hard fiberglass and have some sailing experience. Physical agility is a must and an understanding of how a sailboat works is helpful. You should be comfortable with the sea. If you tend to get motion sickness, I recommend that you take a remedy prior to going out.

Typically, we meet at the dock located in the Marina, S.F. at 10 AM and return about 4 PM, put the boat back together and leave about 5 PM. It is not advised to make evening plans on sail days. Try not to cancel since that inconveniences your other sailor friends. But if you really need to cancel, please let me know no later than 48 hours before the sail. A no fault policy for no shows will apply. That is, no shows for any reason will result in termination from the team.

Each crew member will be asked to sign a Waiver Release.

I had one of my regulars; one from my Yahoo Group and one from meet up. So I was a happy camper. We had a great time going out on the Ocean to mile rock and then down toward Angel Island, over to Pier 39 and then back to our harbor. I will set up another sail on Saturday, February 8th but need to make the right choices on setting it up because I may not have the last time. Joe

From what I saw, you did great. Thank you for making the offerings to the group. 3 hints: After you create the event, you can go into the event listing page, and use the "tools" pulldown menu to edit the RSVP list, email the people who have RSVP'd yes, or close the RSVP list when you get enough people. And you might implement a firm policy against no-shows, just state what the policy will be in your event description. And, keep the RSVP list current as you juggle it around, so it represents who the final group is. It helps them keep aware, and they will also get an invite to make a comment after the event if they are on the RSVP list.

I only had one who showed up although three signed up. I guess I don't know how to manage my own meet ups. I'll try again. Joe

Hi Joe, that's very disappointing to hear. There may have been some confusion as to the RSVP list vs. who was supposed to show up. Other skippers have had much better luck with people showing up. Punishment for a no-show on an actual sailing event is banishment from the group, too.

Confirmed reservations are: 1) Sarah Shin; 2) Lorna; 3) Dulamdory; 4) Jenny Eng I look forward to meeting all of you.

Please come to the Gate 8, Gas House Cove park bench at 10 AM sharp. The number "8" may not have been painted on the door yet; it is four gates to the north) It is located just north (toward Marin) of the Safeway Marina and near the intersections of Marina and Buchanan. Also, it’s just West of Ft. Mason. It's the Yacht Harbor directly to the north of the Safeway Marina and with Ft. Mason on the right.
