Pt Reyes Lighthouse, Chimney Rock Hike & Potluck

And here we go...

This hike will be broken into 2 parts:

First we will meet at the parking lot for the Pt Reyes Lighthouse,

and hike out to the lighthouse, and take a vino/snack break.

Next we go to Chimney Rock and see what kind of fun and merriment we can have while taking in those killer ocean views.

Chimney Rock caps the easternmost extension of the Point Reyes Peninsula where the Pacific Ocean meets Drakes Bay.  We may even be able to see the beach we potlucked at on the Drakes Estero hike.

The headland is renowned for spring wildflowers, elephant seal colonies and seasonal whale watching.  Clear days afford sweeping views of Drakes Beach, Drakes Estero, Limantour Beach and the Farallon Islands.

The total mileage of these two hikes will be approximately 5 miles.  The rating is easy to moderate, w/ the lighthouse stair section being moderate to strenuous, depending on your condition.  Everyone sets their own pace on the stairs.

What To Bring:

Good Hiking Boots/shoes

Layered clothing, hat, sunscreen.

At least 1 liter of water (Fill your bladder/bottles 1/2 way and refrigerate the night before, then top off w/ ice in the a.m. and you'll have chilled water all day.

Vino/snacks for our pre-lunch break during the hike

Food and more food to share (fish, wraps, cutup sandwiches, meats/cheeses, breads/crackers, dried fruit/nuts/seeds, chips, dips, salsa, deserts - be creative!)

Drinks - vino, beer, juice, tea, whatever wets your whistle.

If you've been on any of my hikes you know what to expect. The vino is required to be a part of this hike... OK, not really, but it's always nice when the vino to hiker ratio is high!
