Sunday, February 16th is the fourth race in the Oakland Yacht Club Sunday Brunch Series. And Willin is ready to race with a slick new bottom and brand new sails.
I will have a couple of my regular crew on board, but would like to bring a couple of newbies along for the ride.
If you have ever wanted to learn more about club racing this is your chance. You will learn about "Notice of Race", "Sailing Instructions", Determining Courses, Starting Sequence, and Racing Stategies and Tactics. We finished in Third Place last time, and I am aiming to improve on that this weekend.
You are welcome to join us for breakfast (brunch) in the yacht club before the race. Then we will head down to the boat and prepare for battle. After the race there is an awards cerimony with lunch up in the yacht club bar.
The first gun is at 1300, so you should be here by 1100, if you are coming for the brunch.
I have ginger ale and bottled water on board.
Willin' is a big, modern, safe, well-equipped, well-maintained yacht with full electronics and instrumentation.
There will be a half-hour orientation to get you familiar with the boat and safety procedures prior to our departure.
Please sign up on the waiting list and I will choose the crew from there. You will get an email, or a phone call, if you have been selected. So, it is especially important that you answer the questions when you register so that I have your contact information and your experience level. I will choose some "experienced" and some "newbie" crew for this event.
Your forty dollar donation will help to defray expenses. It includes brunch before the race and pizza and ceasar salad after the race.
So, let's go sailing and have some fun.
