Race for Newbies at the Presidio Yacht Club on Sunday

Well, I said that I would do this again whenever an opportunity came up and there here is another great opportunity to race on Sunday afternoon.  I know that it is Easter Sunday, but tell your mom to save you some ham - you were just going to make sandwiches out of it anyway.

This is another opportunity for those of you on the wait list for Saturday.

The weather should be stellar.

If you have ever wanted to learn more about Club Racing this is your chance.  You will learn about the Notice of Race, Sailing Instruction, Division Splits, Starting Sequences and Race Strategy and Tactics.

Crew can board at the Guest Dock at the Presidio Yacht Club at Fort Baker in Sausalito (right next to the Golden Gate Bridge).

Willin' is ready to race with a slick new bottom and brand new sails.

I will have a couple of my regular crew on board, but would like to bring a couple of newbies along for the ride.

This is fun race with a pizza and beer at the Presidio Yacht Club after the finish (you can see my smiling face on the wall there - Past Comodore).

Eat breakfast before you come, and bring a snack to tide you while we race.

The first gun is at noon and you should plan on being on the boat by 1030 hours.

I have ginger ale and bottled water on board.

Willin' is a big, modern, safe, well-equipped, well-maintained yacht with full electronics and instrumentation.

There will be a half-hour orientation to get you familiar with the boat and safety procedures prior to our departure.

It is especially important that you answer the questions when you register so that I have your contact information and your experience level.  I will choose some "experienced" and some "newbie" crew for this event.

Please sure that you answer the informational questions when you sign up or I will not be able to confirm your reservation.

OK, let's go sailing and have some fun.

Is anyone driving from the East Bay by chance?

Hey Mark, thanks for the offer, but then I would have to get to Alameda which could be equally as complicated on my bike...

Mark, I sail my Catalina 38 out of Emery Cove Yacht Harbor. You mentioned a 40 minute orientation. Do you have a copy you could e-mail me for my new participants?
