15+ years of sailing SF Bay, coastal to Mexico, Pacific Cup to Hawaii and return on my own ship, and a year sailing Melanesia, in addition to 40+ days/yr aboard my own boat on the SF Bay, or abroad on a much larger sailing schooner for 2-3 weeks/yr. Cetacea is my second, smaller, sailing ship, allowing me to sail shorthanded. I am a highly experienced and legal Captain, but not a USCG documented "Captain" Captain, since I sail for pleasure and shared passion, and not as a more restrictive business. I'm also the Captain of our shared destiny when aboard Cetacea, and that subject is only discussed by mutineers and those not yet thrown overboard, hahahahaha
Yes, 1-off Blue Seas 42' cutter-rigged pilothouse "racer-cruiser". more cruiser than racer, for sure, although we clocked an average of 9.7 knots over multiple 10-15 minute AIS sampling periods surf-sailing the Potato Patch in 5/2014, and that is above her hull speed <yayyyyyyyy>!
Cetacea has a big shiny new diesel engine and enough fuel to motor for 5 days non-stop: does that count?
SouthBeach Marina in SF.
Tech entrepreneur enjoys SF Bay daysails, Potato Patch romps, and weekend trips to the Farallon Islands. I enjoy costume parties, picnics, and fun sailing with platonic-only friends and, occasionally, my gf. Cetacea is great with 4-8 crew.
Cetacea has enjoyed meeting happy and celebratory crew on Meetup. We look forward to meeting more adventures-seeking crew aboard Cetacea in 2015!
