This is our first annual conference!
Description: This is not a "sit around and listen to a few presenters" sort of conference. Instead, we're going to have a bunch of small workshops where we present about an area, and then the whole group works about developing it further. Current schedule:
Intro
* Vision (why the world needs seasteads)
* Roads (how to make seasteading happen)
* Introduce Day's Agenda
* TSI Engineering Consultants presentation on ocean platform design
Workshops
* Coaststead Business Ideas: The VC-funded path.
* DIY Seasteading: The self-funded path.
* Ephemerisle Planning/Meta-Planning: The Burning Man path.
* Government/Constitution/Organization: How will seasteads be governed?
Closing
* Continuing Engagement - Social networks, volunteer projects, ...
* Wrap-up
Registration: Please RSVP using this site, as we need to know the approximate number of attendees in advance so the hotel can plan food. You can pay using Amazon Payments here, or with cash or check when you arrive. The cost will be $195, which covers food, space, equipment, and some schwag. It does not cover lodging, see below for information.
We are waiving the registration fee for students, although you will have to cover airfare and lodging. Please indicate your student status in the RSVP questions, and ]email us if you are looking for a roommate. Discounted registration of $95 is also available for journalists.
Waivers/Transparency: We will require signing an NDA to attend the presentation by our engineering consultants on their design, because we are planning to patent it. Other than that, all session will be transparent: anyone is welcome to record audio or video of them and do whatever they want with those recordings. We believe at least one person will be there videotaping for a possible documentary. By registering with the conference, you give permission to be recorded.
Location: We have conference rooms booked at the Embassy Suites Hotel SFO, with space for up to 200 people. We can expand that if we get more (which seems unlikely). The hotel is really nice, it's right on the bay with a view of the SFO runways across the water, and has a nice atrium / bar / restaurant area. It is walking distance from a couple of other hotels that are probably cheaper, for budget-conscious attendees. There is also a park (Anza Lagoon right next to the hotel.)
Schedule: The rough schedule (more details later):
Lodging: You need to make separate reservations. We recommend the following locations (all have shuttles to/from SFO, all are walking distance to Embassy Suites where conference is)
Contact: If you have any questions, email ][masked]
