Hike at Purisima Creek Redwoods

  • October 25, 2009 · 11:00 AM

Hi everyone,
This is a 9.1 mile moderate+ and gorgeous hike.

Dogs are not allowed in the preserve sad

Hike Highlights: Redwood forests, great views, fun people and chocolates ;)

Also, I need to get a permit for this place which will include approximate number of people. So, if you are planning on going, please RSVP so I know :)

Meet at the Higgins Purisima Trailhead at 11:00AM.

From the junction of CA 1 and CA 92 in San Mateo County, drive south on 1 [towards Santa Cruz] 1.2 miles, then turn east [left] onto Higgins-Purisima Road [or Higgins canyon road..thats the name on the maps].
When u turn left from hiway 1, take the narrow road which goes towards the hills [it looks kinda like a fork there]. Drive on this narrow road about 4.2 miles, to the trailhead on the left side of the road (just past the tiny white bridge). The parking lot is very small. If it is full, you have to park on the side of the road and meet at the parking lot.

Approx GPS for parking lot: N[masked] W[masked]

Bring enough water, lunch, some snacks to share if you like [remember, tastier snacks gets you more friends ;)] and some warm clothing.

Here's the link which has the map of the park and the loop which we will be taking highlighted in yellow . We will be starting the hike at the west entrance on 'Higgins purisima road'.

Hope to see u there! :)

NOTE: If you are not familiar with the trails here, wait at the intersections and have a map as it can be a bit tricky here.

Disclaimer: Its your own responsibility to look after yourself on the hike if u decide to join us. You assume all the risks including sharing my lunch ;)

My friend and I were very late b/c of the accident on Highway 1. Missed the group but did the hike anyway. Thanks for the arrow at junction and thanks to organizer for this glorious hike!

Sent me a email, if you want a ride.
it seem to me that finding a parking spot will be hard.

Hello - I've found some info that says there's only parking for 10 cars at the lot - is this true? I have a car that can take 3 people - live in Mission Potrero area of San Francisco. [masked]

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
