New Year Hike at Morgan Territory Regional Preserve

  • Jan 1, 2014 · 12:30 PM

Hi all,
It's supposed to be nice weather tomorrow...

So thought we can start the new year with some exercise and fun in the outdoors :)

This will be about a 6 mile easy to moderate hike in mostly open grasslands with nice views at this beautiful and secluded place. We'll have a break at a beautiful spot overlooking Mt. Diablo. Bring snacks/wine to share if you like...

We may go to someone's house at Livermore for a small New year get-together if you are interested in going, keep your evening free...we can get some food to go :)

Hike Highlights: Rolling grasslands, great views, lunch spot,  chocolates, cows and fun people ;)

Meet at the trail head parking lot at 12:30PM.

From Highway 580 in Alameda County, exit North Livermore Avenue.
Drive north on North Livermore. After the road makes a sharp left, it becomes Manning. Shortly after, turn right onto Morgan Territory Road (at this point you'll have driven about 4 miles from 580).
Drive about 5.5 miles on narrow, winding, one-lane Morgan Territory Road, to the signed park entrance on the right side of the road
From the Highway 24/680 interchange in Contra Costa County, exit Ygnacio Valley Road. Drive east on Ygnacio Valley Road about 8 miles, then turn south onto Clayton Road. Clayton Road turns into Marsh Creek Road in Clayton. Continue south on Marsh Creek Road, then turn right onto Morgan Territory Road. Drive about 9 miles (on this narrow road) to the park entrance on the left side of the road.

Use the above to get an idea and find your directions using the co-ordinates below...
GPS coodinates for the parking lot [approx]: N[masked] W[masked]

Dogs are permitted in the park :)

The junctions are a bit tricky. So if you are not sure, please wait at the trail junctions.

HAPPY 2014!!!

Arrived late and missed you guys. Hiked down from Morgan to Los Vaqueros Resevoir - easy down, not-so-easy up. Pretty though.
