Hike at Mt. Tam [Stinson Beach]

Hi all,
Here's one of our favorite hikes :)

This is a beautiful about 8+ mile moderate+ loop hike [little uphill climbing up to the lunch spot] through redwood trees, grasslands, waterfalls and great ocean views....with one of the perfect lunch spots. We'll have a late lunch on top of a hill with nice views of the ocean.

Bring a blanket or something to sit on if you have :)

Hike Highlights: Views, redwoods and fun people.

Bring enough water, lunch and something to share if you like.

The lunch spot is at the junction where the 'Coastal trail' goes to the left. So when we get to that junction, we make a right on a small path which goes to a tree and some rocks. If you are not sure where to go, wait at the junctions :)

If you miss that junction, you may miss all the good food ;)

Meet at the trailhead on Belvedere ave. at 11:30 AM

DIRECTIONS

From San Francisco, after crossing the Golden Gate Bridge, take Hwy. 101 North approximately three miles to the "Hwy. One, Stinson Beach" exit.

Drive about 1 mile [you are on Shoreline Highway now] to the junction with Almonte and turn left [you'll see an ARCO gas station on the left] and turn left.

Follow the signs to Stinson Beach.

Just after passing the intersection with 'Panoramic Highway' and before entering the town, look for a firestation on the right. That is 'Belvedere Ave.'.

Make a right on Belvedere Ave and park there.

If there is no parking, then you can park at the Stinson Beach parking lot [which is a bit further down the road] and walk back to the trailhead.
[If you need to use restrooms, you may have to go to the Stinson beach parking lot. There is also restrooms a bit after the lunch spot at the Pantoll ranger station]

ALTERNATE TO HWY. ONE

In a short while, you will come to a fork with a sign pointing 'Stinson Beach' to left and 'Muir Woods and Mt. Tamalpais State Park' to the right.

You can turn right at this point and take Panoramic Hwy. through the park.
It will take you back to Hiway One.

At the 'T' intersection with Hiway 1, make a right.

Then look for Belvedere Ave. and follow the instructions above.

Dogs are not allowed on the trails here :(

See u soon! :)

Important note: After the pantoll ranger station, if you just take the trail going downhill from there, it's the 'Steep ravine' trail. We are planning to take the Dip sea trail which is further down the paved road from the parking lot of the pantoll ranger station.

Hi guys! If anyone can carpool around the SF bay area that would be great! I live in sunset, but I can take public transport and meet wherever's most convenient for you. And definitely split the gas cost too. Cheers!
