Growing up, my neighbours and I kept our herd in a pasture between our properties. Our horses were barefoot and we all rode in halters almost everyday. We would all swim the horses in the lake, and ride the trails along the river all day. Our horses were really happy and healthy.
I am self employed, and have time on my hands, especially weekdays. I love a horse that likes to canter along trails. I ride with a loose or soft rein in a Dr Coopers bitless bridle, preferring leg leads. I also really enjoy working with horses on the ground and in the arena, practising / teaching / learning skills together. I'm full of affection for horses, and love teaching through pressure and release. Trail riding is fun, relaxing and a great place to chat. I'm looking for smiley people to ride with.
Hmmm. So many choices. Purisima Creek Redwoods. Jack Brook Horse Camp at Sam McDonald Park. The bluffs in Half Moon Bay.
Keeping horses as comfortable as possible. Horses need buddies, freedom to roam all day, and really well fitted gear.
I've had horses all my life in Australia. Now I live in San Francisco, and love to ride all over the gorgeous Bay Area trails. I love the Natural Horsemanship philosophies, especially Buck Brannaman's methods.
