Carmel Cavalier party!! 11th Annual Cavalier KCS Carmel, CA Beach Party Carmel Beach – Location will be on the beach either at Scenic and 9th or Scenic and 13th, depending upon what the tides are doing that day. Theme is "April in Paris." April 21st, 2012 Carmel Cavalier party!! 11th Annual Cavalier KCS Carmel, CA Beach Party Here are the details from the organizer: Dear Cavalier KCS friends and families, The long awaited 11th Annual Cavalier KCS Carmel, CA Beach Party will be held on Saturday, April 21st (from 1 - 4 PM). This year's theme is "April in Paris". I have attended this event twice and it's really fun. There were approximately 200 Cavaliers in attendance. Some people dress their dogs in theme-appropriate costumes. There is a raffle and prizes for costumes. The event benefit some worthy cause - but I'm not yet sure what the cause will be this year. My 2 Cavaliers and I will be in Carmel that weekend - specifically because this event is so much fun.

Just received the following from Janet McTurk the organizer of the Carmel Caalier Beach Pawtee:

Dear Cavalier KCS friends and families,

Unfortunately, Easter and some special events in April have thrown a monkey wrench into our plans to hold our 13th Annual event.

We always plan the party for a non-event weekend so that we aren't competing for rooms, restaurants etc. and normally the weekend before the Big Sur Marathon is perfect. The Marathon this year is the 26th, but Easter is very late and is the weekend before, which isn't good. The Pebble Beach Food & Wine Event has moved to the 10th-13th and is always popular. That leaves April the 6th, but it turns out it is Doris Day's 90th birthday (she is part owner of the Cypress Inn) and the GM has advised they are fully booked with several special events planned,.

I am reading this on my phone so this means there is NO event on April 19th this year because of Easter on the 20th?? We are still coming up that weekend as we have Booked a room and made plans around the cav event so am I still able to take my cav to the beach and around town even if there is no planned event???

I've booked a room too and I'm bringing my Cavalier

I am still coming up that weekend anyway as we have friends we were going to visit...so maybe anyone that is in Carmel on the 19th of April can just meet with the doggies at the beach and say hello? Thinking I might see what we can do for Easter up there as well with my two daughters (9 and 11) and our cavalier...would be nice to do something fun with the whole family for easter while we are there.

Ahhhhh.....shucks! That sucks! Oh we'll......fingers. Crossed fro 2015.......maybe by then I'll have TWO Cavaliers! Best wishes to all my cavalier custodians! The breed and the people who care for them are special. Until 2015

I had to split this because it was too large. Here is the rest:

Dear Cavalier KCS friends and families,

Although it has been unusually warm and dry here the past few months I am not comfortable scheduling the party any earlier - March can be very unpredictable and we have no back up plans for an alternate location if the weather is poor.

A weekend in May would be great, but I leave for Canada for several months on May 1st.

The 2015 calendar looks like things will get back to normal with Easter falling on the 5th.

Thanks again to each and every one of you for your attendance and support of our event and Animal Friends Rescue Project (AFRP). I hope we will be able to regroup in 2015 and hold the best ever party on our beautiful Carmel Beach.

    Best,

    Janet

We are actually staying at the hotel pacific in Monterey but they said getting to Carmel is really easy and since we also have our daughters with us we wanted to be able to see the aquarium etc as well as do the fun cavalier event. The hotel has a $50 pet deposit so we were lucky. I am still crossing my fingers that it does fall on that weekend and we can be a part of it while we are in town.

We have stayed many times at Casa de Carmel. It is (or was) cheaper than some and conveniently located. However Carmel Mission Inn is probably the best deal. It is just not located in the center of Carmel so you have to drive to restaurants etc. - although there are many restaurants at the Barnyard Shopping Center. It is just not downtown Carmel. Just my humble opinion.

Thanks for the helpful hotel info! Cypress Inn is amazing but out of my price range. Would love to hear your preference on the others you mentioned...which are the best for the $? Thanks!

For those of us who have been before, we are on the e-mail list. We also get notices if you are a member of the Bay Area Yahoo group. When I receive notification, I will forward to this group if you have not already been notified.

As for places to stay, the primo place is the Cypress Inn. We have also stayed at Casa de Carmel, Carmel Fireplace Inn, and Monte Verde Inn. if you do a google search of pet friendly lodging in Carmel you will find other places. Also right outside the center of Carmel is the Carmel Misson Inn.

Looking forward to attending my 1st Cav Carmel beach party. For those of you who have gone, at which hotels do most of the partygoers stay?

    January 16

  • Melissa W.

Thank you so much for that information and I am crossing my fingers it will be the 19th as I am up visiting a friend in Carmel with my daughters that weekend and I will have our puppy paisley with us and we would all have such a wonderful time. Not often up that way from Santa Monica so it would really make our trip extra special. Is there a website or a sign up that gets posted with details or will we just hear about it on this site?

Sadly, we cannot join in this year. Can someone tell us dates for next year, 2014, so we can plan well in advance to be there?

It was a perfect day. Hundreds of beautiful Cavalier's, just like my Lacey, on the beautiful white sandy beach in Carmel. We had warm, sunny day too. Good doggies, good people, good food and some nice raffle prizes, even if we didn't win one, lol. And the $ went for a good cause, to help rescue animals. We will definitely plan on going again next year.
