No introduction yet
This meetup is great if you have strong opinions on the topic and know a lot about it, because you'll find people who will listen to you and challenge you thoughtfully. It's also great if you don't know much about the topic and don't have strong opinions, because you'll get to learn from others and challenge them. Members come with different life experiences, and it seems at least a third of us grew up outside the U.S. Even the small talk post-debate tends to be "bigger" than usual small talk.

Peter, when are we meeting again?
Thank you for posting all these articles in conjunction with the upcoming Philosophy Talk on 4/24, Peter. That was very thoughtful of you! I also posted an article from "Nature" entitled "Are languages shaped by culture or cognition?" on the Berkeley Philosophy Reading Group Web site. Valerie
Wow thanks for that attention paper reference
hey Peter, I'm using the newmeetup platform to connect the 2% of successful and passionate organizers, you can find it here:
Hello Peter -
As you can imagine, we're well aware of the concerns. I hope we can assuage them over time... FWIW, Scott is actively involved and talking with organizers. Please note that the organizer can still set the overall format of the Meetup.
Hi Peter, Thanks for stepping up as organizer! I hope to make some suggestions about new names in the next day or two.
Welcome Peter!
Hi Peter-
Just sent this to Paul, feel free to pass it on if you like it -

Hey, Peter, thanks for giving me the heads up about the CA Cognitive Science Conference at UCB. I really enjoyed it, and it was well organized. Vargas' talk didn't live up to its title, but he would have been amused at how we conducted the second meeting; we have a nice chat before the panel discussion.
Just accidentally spotted your shout to Dana -- the recent Science Cafe on "Your Brain on Computers" touched briefly on that (askascientists

) I Googled "tcms induced savantism" before I spotted Dana's reply, and this looked good, and not quite as old: http://bps-research-digest.blogspot.c...![]()
