Thanks for the note! You don't need a drysuit around here. A lot of people do drysuits, but I have never used one. The water around Monterey is usually around 50-55 degrees F even down to around 60 feet deep. A 7mm wetsuit is enough, with a hood and gloves. You can rent everything you need at dives shops there.

Alberto - thanks for joining the SF Scuba Diving Group! So have you done any diving in California yet, or anywhere else that is cold water? It's a very different experience but diving in the kelp forests here is really fun. look forward to meeting you at one of our meetups.
