Staff Snippet: Moving Forward

Dearest Families,

What a week we have had!

The highest court in the land recognized our humanity by striking down DOMA and CA became the 13th state in which same sex couples have the freedom to marry.  And Pride was a kick-ass celebration party. We are thrilled for all of you who have been waiting to get married and now can. We are excited for all of the queer Californians who will fall in love in the future knowing that marriage is an option for them just like for their straight friends.
It is hard to believe this day has come. This is the world our children will grow up in.
While this is an important step in our path towards full equality, we must keep moving forward. Just like having an African American President doesn't end racism, having DOMA and Prop 8 struck down does not end homophobia. We hope you'll join us in continuing to advocate for our families in 37 states that still do not recognize their freedom to marry, to work for trans parents' rights, LGBT immigrant families, and to create welcoming and inclusive spaces for our children throughout California.

We look forward to traveling with all of you on this journey toward justice!
