Udacity Study Group for HTML5 Game Programming Course (Unit 2)

This is part 2 of the 8-week study group.

Important: This event is already sold out (those that are in will be emails separately), but you can add yourself to the waitlist. Do not simply RSVP on this meetup page, but fill out this form: http://goo.gl/eThVW. This event wil be live streamed and recorded at this link and you can ask questions here.

We're hosting an 8-week study group for the new Udacity HTML5 Game Programming course (CS255). For more information, see the recording of the recent Google Developers Live session. In these study groups, course instructors Colt McAnlis, Peter Lubbers, and Sean Bennett will be on hand to answer your questions. This is also great if you're participating in the Games contest (great prizes!) that is running in parallel.

Spots are limited. It is expected that you're enrolled in the course and are completing a unit every week so you can ask questions about the materials covered. It goes without saying that you're expected to actually show up if you register. The study group is offered for free, but space is very limited and if you're registered but don't show up, you're preventing someone else from coming.

The study group consists of 8 consecutive weekly meetings from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. PST. Here is the schedule:

  • Wednesday, February 20—Units 0 and 1 (View Recording)
  • Monday, February 25 Unit 2
  • Monday, March 4th—Unit 3
  • Monday, March 11th—Unit 4
  • Monday, March 18th—Unit 5
  • Monday, March 25th—Unit 6
  • Monday, April 1st (no joke!)—Unit 7
  • Monday, April 8th—Deployment, Wrapup

We'll let you know the day before the event if you have a spot. If you can't physically attend

Note: we will be live-streaming the study groupat this link and you can ask questions here.

...I'm still out sick. It was the flu. I don't want to be a carrier monkey. See you guys online, if you don't mind. :-)

Check out and Debug this Simple Test Page (http://www.irelate.us/HTMLGameD...) I whipped up for Units 1 and 2. Click wherever it say to Click. You will see the basics of Canvas and Atlas and, if you keep clicking, you see some "gotchas" that you'd probably have run into eventually with a real Canvas App. I also hope to contribute a Community Knowledge Sharing Ecosystem for the Course very soon. Stay tuned... Game On!!!
