    Course Summary

    This 3-day course will help you master the latest web and mobile development techniques and best practices using popular open source tools.  The course is 50% presentation and discussion, and 50% hands-on labs designed around real-world development scenarios.  

    This curriculum covers current trends in HTML5, web application architecture and application development techniques, including:

    • Core web developer skills (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and jQuery)

    • Working with server-side data (JSON, CSV, etc.)

    • Building rich applications incorporating audio, video, SVG, d3.js

    • Working with JavaScript on the server with Node.js

    • Utilizing desktop features for web apps (Geolocation, HTML5 Web Storage and Offline Web Applications)

    • Understanding, utilizing, and extending client-side web application frameworks

    You will learn how to enhance existing sites and create highly interactive web applications using HTML5. Upon completion of the training course, you will be able to:

    Create interactive server-side pages and single-page client applications using latest HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript techniques Easily support multiple browser types, screen sizes, and orientations Create data driven client-server applications for the Web Build visually rich applications incorporating multimedia and animations Include desktop features (i.e. offline operation and database access) into your web applications Build secure communications between the client and the server Adopt best practices for ensuring web app quality and reliability across multiple browsers

    Richard Clark, M.A. (@rdclark) has taught many classes for the SFHTML5 user group in the past. He is an experienced software developer and instructor. He has taught for Apple and Hewlett-Packard, written immersive simulations, developed multiple high-performance web applications for the Fortune 100, and has published Apple iOS applications. Richard has a Master’s degree in Education and is an in-demand speaker for international conferences. He has a special interest in using mobile, connected, real-time applications to help people live, work, and play better.

    I wish I could join it - it could enrich my classes but Tuesday is a day that I teach the whole entire day at the I would miss A LOT! I hope you guys can schedule this another time such as during a weekend or during the 3 last days of the week...or spread out during one week in the evening! Thanks
