About the Talk
Responsive web design is great for web pages, but falls short when developing complex web apps. In this talk, Boris Smus (@borismus) will cover his experiences writing real HTML5 apps for the cross device web. He will dive into code sharing across different form factors, layout considerations using the flexbox model, hardware accelerated positioning, scrolling, simulating :active pseudo-state, multi-touch gestures and other best practices.
About the Speaker
Boris Smus is an engineer working in Chrome developer relations. Prior to Google, he was a physical and social computing researcher at Carnegie Mellon University and before that, a software engineer on the iWork team at Apple. Boris spends his leisure time teaching computers new tricks, making music and enjoying the great outdoors.

Boris did a great job. Giving live demos with so many devices connected over multiple networks is not for the faint of heart.
March 31, 2012
This is the video from last night:http://www.justin.tv/marakana_t...
?
be warned the first 20 -30 min is nothing !
March 30, 2012
We'll be posting the recording link soon, but in the meantime you find Boris' slides here: http://goo.gl/ZFiIO![]()
March 30, 2012
I was also hoping to watch a video of this talk if one is available.
Thanks!

Topic was interesting but too broad; too much info crammed into the hour with too many slides and the presentation ran long. Would've been better to do a more focused presentation on 1/2 or 1/3 of the material. Unfortunate technical difficulties, too.
March 30, 2012
Boris' presentation flowed well from one point to the next and had lots of useful information. I'd definitely attend another presentation of his.
March 30, 2012
Great speaker, seems Boris was on his own connecting to a network, the venue should supply a dedicated line
March 30, 2012
A fascinating and well organized evening. Thanks for all your hard work putting this together.
March 30, 2012
@ramanathan Audio should be working again. Sorry about the glitch. It's the first time we're streaming with this setup. Still working things out...
March 29, 2012
@Kimo - thanks! :D That caught me by surprise. I'm still blushing, and no, it's not the vodka. Glad to be a part of this!
March 29, 2012
Yeah Vanessa - congratulations on the vodka! thanks for all you do to organize these meetings!!

I read that but if you read comments above, Vanessa says live streaming link will be posted on twitter. So, just want to double confirm.
March 29, 2012
Big red text at the top of this page: "IMPORTANT: This event will be live streamed. URL will be posted here before the event begins."
March 29, 2012
Are you gonna post live streaming link at meetup also? I do not have twitter accesible.
March 29, 2012
Jim: yes, there is a bike rack in the building which you can use. Ask at the entrance when you get here.
2 · March 29, 2012
Any good bicycle parking around? Can we bring bikes into the building?
2 · March 29, 2012
Boris' presentation will be recorded and posted here. Follow @sfhtml5 for the announcement and link, as well.
March 29, 2012
I probably wont' be able to make the live stream, will it be recorded for later viewing (and available on e.g., YouTube or Vimeo)?
March 29, 2012
Live streaming will be available. Link will be posted on Twitter @sfhtml5 shortly before the event. If you watch the stream, use @sfhtml5 to ask your questions and we'll ask them for you.

We're working hard to ensure that this will be streamed live. We just got the equipment, so let's hope everything else works out (network speed, etc.)
2 · February 29, 2012
@Sarada The location will be in San Francisco, but accessible from CalTrain.
