Well, Fidelity cannot use websockets because all the traffic goes through iPlanet which rejects websocket connection. Getting either socketIO or cometD just for long polling was not sufficient motivation and they plan to do short polling. They also had a problem: 'who to call when node.js goes down at 2am?'
