At our recent Planning Committee meeting, several people were interested in activities such as book discussions, hikes, social action and service projects. If you have interest in any of there areas, please shoot me an e-mail. To accommodate some of these activities we are initiating our 4th Sunday Outings. The first one is a Walk 'n' Talk led by Phil Crawford described below.
Bay Area Humanists invite you to a Walk ‘n’ Talk on April 28. We will be discussing issues of secular humanism in the beautiful Spring weather. Our first walk will be an easy stroll in the Marina, along the Bay Trail out to the wharf at Fort Point. We will meet in front of the Sports Basement (610 Old Mason St) at 11:30. Be prepared to walk for about two hours.
The topic for discussion will be an article written by Greta Christina in the current issue of The Humanist, called “Compassion for the Religious”. (see link below) The starting point for the talk will be the question, ‘How do we relate to people who’s beliefs contradict the principals of secular humanism; reason, naturalism, altruistic morality and distributive justice’?
